Mindfulness-based psychotherapy with Dorinda
Dorinda offers both short-term and open-ended psychotherapy for individuals seeking more freedom, joy and stability in their lives. Her practice brings together powerful, practical ways of working with the body and mind to help calm the nervous system, clear stress and trauma and reconnect with the essential health and wholeness at the heart of being.
Mindfulness is key to her approach. Mindfulness means paying attention to what is happening in the present moment in the mind, body and external environment, with an attitude of curiosity and kindness. Dorinda’s mindfulness practices might include guided meditation, gentle movement or working with the breath. In addition, Dorinda seamlessly and skilfully integrates tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), into her practice. Tapping not only helps to rapidly clear stress and trauma and improve brain connectivity but is a wonderfully practical tool that people can use in everyday life.
As the body-mind begins to slow down and learns to regulate and relax, a space for deep listening opens up within the therapeutic relationship. As Dorinda says, “this is where the alchemy happens; the therapeutic space becomes a safe, almost sacred, place where difficulty and distress can be attended to, and where past trauma can be safely felt, understood, digested and resolved.”
